The Lowdown: Wario is back in a new 2D side-scrolling platforming adventure patterned after the old-school Game Boy titles that made him a star (complete with appearances by Captain Syrup and an emphasis on hoarding money). Shaking the Wii Remote lets Wario stun enemies, cause earthquakes, and knock items down. Levels offer multiple secrets and routes, and Wario has all of his classic power-dashing and butt-stomping moves.
The Hype: Mind-blowing hand-drawn 2D graphics, high-quality anime cutscenes, and the first 2D console Nintendo platformer in what must be decades. Even better, a Wario-style platformer with tons of exploring, stealing, and buying to do. Add in some tilt-control and shaking gimmicks and you appear to have something to make a Nintendo fan's heart explode.
The Snark: This isn't an in-house Nintendo project, but is instead developed by GOOD-FEEL, Ltd, whose track record I don't know offhand. I guess it could be bad, maybe? I'm really stretching to find something negative to say, here...
All kinds of great assets behind the cut!

Man, I am just in love with the animation in this game. It's so damn glorious it's not even funny.
Must purchase.
Apparently GOOD-FEEL Ltd is made up of guys who worked on several of Konami's Ganbare Goemon games, at least from what I've heard. (Which ones I don't know.)
I have high hopes for this game. The trailer not only gave me a very strong Wario Land vibe, but it also kind of reminded me of Yoshi's Island. Here's hoping it does well. Between this and Megaman 9, its nice to see two potentially high quality 2D platformers in this age.
I've got to agree with JBoggieG. Don't know how it plays, but this is one 2D beauty.

Depending on your definition, I think the last one was either Donkey Kong Country 3 (which used pre-rendered graphics) or Yoshi's Island.
Also, I love the cover as well as the globe picture. The latter reminds me of the Japanese Super Mario World cover.
Man, everytime I look at this game, it almost brings me to tears of joy! I wish master of disguise looked and played as good as this.
On a different note, everytimer I'm scrolling down and that little mario pops out it scares the crap out of me. lol
I'm definitely interested in this. The only Wario game I've played was Wario World, and I found it pretty enjoyable. If I'm going to buy this, it needs to have some sot of lasting appeal, but I fear that it won't.
It should if it's like the GB ones, which always had tons of optional goals. I actually got to play this one hands-on, and at the very least there appear to be multiple routes in each level and a lot of bonus collectibles.
