Animal Crossing and Punch-Out!! Confirmed for E3?

The answer to that would appear to be "why, yes!", but I'm going to try to play along with Nintendo and look surprised at the press conference. UK gaming mag N-Gamer's latest issue freely confirms the existence of the long-suspected Animal Crossing Wii, and confirms the Nintendo return of a far more surprising IP, the long-absent Punch-Out!!. Of course, N-Europe got this news online as quick as possible, and here we are.

The article goes on to say that Animal Crossing Wii has been finished for a while, and though it isn't an MMO as suggested by rumours earlier this year, it features heavy use of Wi-Fi sharing (and presumably multiplayer, as in Wild World).

As for Punch-Out!! Wii, NGamer claim that Balance Board implementation is on the cards for dodging and weaving, in addition to Wii Remote and Nunchuk controlled punching (which goes without saying) in the style of Wii Sports Boxing and Rhythm Boxing, which was included as a minigame in Wii Fit.

Why, that's... exactly what I said I wanted to play. Carry on then, Nintendo. It seems your 2009 is going to please me.

I can't believe it's been over half a decade since we've seen this guilty pleasure on a home console. Seems like only yesterday when Tom Nook first hijacked my soul.

I really hope Little Mac returns as the main character.

Nah, Little Mac will take the place of Mr. Dream / Mike Tyson as the final opponent. Watch out for his star punch.

Animal crossing confirmed? Yeah a LONG long time ago.

It was announced a long time ago, but the only hints it would be at E3 were earlier this week when Official Nintendo Magazine UK hinted none-too-obliquely at it. Nobody said "Hey, it'll be at E3!" until N-Gamer this week.

YES! I've been waiting for an announcment about Punch-Out! sense I got a Wii. Punch-Out! for the NES was one of the funniest games I use to play and I can't wait to see Little Mac take to the ring again. Now I just have to get a Balance Board in time for it's release.

Klarth - Actually I always did think it would've been much better if Little Mac had been the final boss of Super Punch Out instead of Nick Bruiser.

Ah, Wii Punchout. That is basically all I need to be happy in life. Oh, wait, Wii Punchout with BALANCE BOARD support? Nevermind, clearly I didn't know what I needed to be happy until they announced it.

@ArnoldRimmer83:

OH MY GOD YOU JUST TOTALLY BLEW MY MIND.

That is so self-evidently awesome I retrospectively can't believe Nintendo didn't do it.

You have had an idea so brilliant it retroactively changed my opinion.

I knew it was going to be Punchout announced or at least be hinted at.. it's the perfect game for hardcore gamers fond of the original and casual gamers looking for an easy to pick up experience.
