Majesco to Release Mistwalker's Away: Shuffle Dungeon

In 2007, 360 developer Mistwalker Corporation began releasing Nintendo DS games in Japan. The first was Archaic Sealed Heat, followed by announcements for Blue Dragon Plus (set for September 4 release in Japan) and Away: Shuffle Dungeon (set for October release). A.S.H. just wasn't great and Blue Dragon Plus sounds as boring as its 360 progenitor, but Away: Shuffle Dungeon sounded like the sort of inspired game design people wanted out of Mistwalker all along.

It looks like Away will be the first of the Mistwalker DS titles to see US release. The August issue of EGM has preview coverage of localized Away along with a promise of release in early 2009. Away: Shuffle Dungeon is a dungeon crawler where you're trying to rescue kidnapped townspeople who are lost in a dungeon, and generally rebuild your destroyed town. The dungeon offers both enemies and Zelda-style action traps, on top of its Shuffling mechanic. Every so often, segments of the floor in each dungeon level rearrange themselves, literally "shuffling" the floor. You can get hurt in the shuffle if you don't find a safe spot ahead of time, which promises some frantic fun.
