EA's MySims was one of the first third-party Wii games to draw much buzz, although most people would agree that the final product was a bit disappointing. If not for the fact that a Wii Animal Crossing or Harvest Moon still has yet to hit the console, it would probably be a franchise viewed as little more than a rushed-out cash-in.
EA clearly wants more from the MySims brand, and is giving the concept a second adorable go with MySims Kingdom. Now you're trying to build an awesome kingdom instead of an awesome town, which may help cut back on the sheer number of similarities to Animal Crossing (while also putting everyone in cute medieval outfits). There seems to be more of an emphasis on building stuff than on making people happy to judge from the press release, too, which is just fine with me. The building mechanic was about the best thing MySims had going.
There's also a DS version of the game coming that will probably be as similar-yet-more-limited as the DS version of MySims.Check behind the cut for the full press release, and stay tuned for future coverage.
