So I'm back from a long, strange trip working on PS2 strategy guide, thereby proving it is truly the Frankenstein system that will never die, instead shambling into a long and comfortable undeath. It was fun, but as usual there was not enough time and too much work, and I'm frankly exhausted.
Now I'm back in the more comfortable land of Mario and Zelda, and can return to my two new infatuations: Shiren the Wanderer DS and Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Frankly, I'm horribly behind on news and you have no reason to expect news posts to pick up again for a week or so, until I'm caught up on my reading. In the meantime I'll be trying to get you lots of features and original things, because the day the internet fails to provide cheap entertainment is the day Western civilization is at an end.
For now, let's talk about Smash Bros. Brawl. Specifically, let's talk about the Subspace Emissary. Are you guys feeling the love? I have to say that I only feel it until the cutscenes stop. The boss fights are great, but the platforming? Eesh, not on this engine. It's like I'm playing a bad NES Mario knockoff, the ones where you guy always skidded around everywhere. Love the rest of the game, though.

You're alive! Hurray!
I have no Smash Bros. nor money for Smash Bros. These are desperate times.
I have to say I'm pretty amazed by how long it is. I mean, this is an actual game; Subspace Emissary by itself it almost feels (and looks) like its own XBLA title, except it has fewer guns and better physics.
It also seems like the most time-efficient way to unlock new characters.
Hmmm, last time I checked the only other fighter game that had a somewhat of an adventure I enjoyed was Rival Schools storyline, all others sucked....but along comes the Subspace Emisarry and what is believed to be the best adventure,(for a Fighter!!) sure its not gonna be a SMG but does it need to be?
Plus, I love kirby type games and this being one is pretty cool.
Yeah, I think everyone's going to end up doing SSE, whether they like it or not, because it's the best way to unlock Sonic.
I thought Soul Calibur on the Dreamcast had a pretty great adventure mode, though it was really just a bunch of gimmick fights stuck together. But, well, it's a fighter, so I want to fight things in it mostly.
Bad: SSE.
Worse: Having to play SSE twice -- once for import, the other for domestic, just to play as Sonic in both. Ugh.
I've only met one person (both on and offline) who can stand the thing so far, but he gave his soul to Nintendo years ago.
