You know how I say most official game websites are worthless? So are most official forums. A shining exception to this rule are Capcom's official forums, where the posters are generally intelligent and friendly, and Capcom employees stop by to give fans much-appreciated updates on various projects. For instance, head to post 26 and on in this thread to read a series of interesting updates on the status of Okami's Wii port, from VP of Strategic Planning and Business Management Chris Svensson. Isn't that awesome? Why doesn't every company do that?
Anyway, if you want the skinny on the new Okami Wii info revealed without slogging through the thread yourself, here you go! It's right behind the cut.
- Game is complete, but not approved by Nintendo yet. Preview copies go out to media "next week". Of course, Wii debugs aren't in as many hands as they should be, so probably only largest outlets will have new coverage.
- "Knowing how passionate the fans and media are about Okami, we've held back all assets until we had the game to a state that surpasses the PS2 original."
- The Wii controls are said to make the game feel "different", and PS2 vets may need a little time to adjust.
- Key to success is drawing quickly, software compensates for accuracy issues.
- "Even more beautiful" than it was on PS2-- sounds like enhanced graphics to me.
- Some updates pertaining to Okami planned for the Capcom blog.
- If sales a strong, more Okami "content" may be considered. What this means with Clover disbanded and the original Okami team long gone from Capcom is unknown.
- Generally expecting a Spring '08 release, but no precise release date is set. A "done when it's done" title.

Having not playing this game on the PS2, I am looking forward to at least renting this game. It looks great :)
