Famitsu Reveals First Info About Mario Kart Wii

Finally, info about Mario Kart Wii is out in the wild!

Mario Kart Wii will feature 32 courses, 16 of which are remake tracks from previous games. As revealed last year, the racer will feature Kart and bike tricks, only Famitsu says upon landing a trick, players will be rewarded with a turbo boost.

Additionally, the game will support 12-person online multiplayer over the Nintendo Wi-Fi connection, using those pesky friend codes, of course. Famitsu also reported that a Mario Kart Channel will be added to the Wii menu, and that players will be able to use custom Miis as drivers.

Not much more to say, other than-- let the hype begin! If Nintendo can match the hype machine they made for Super Smash Bros. Brawl with Mario Kart Wii, I'll be pretty impressed.

I don't know that they'd be able to match the hype. Brawl had the Smash Bros Dojo blog that built up the hype day-by-day. If they had gone the same route with Mario Kart Wii (individual courses revealed here and there, music tracks released here and there, control scheme explanation, hooks like Motorcycle racing, etc), then you'd see the hype.

Actually, I don't see why more companies don't use the daily blog route as self promoting hype engines. It's straight, direct information issued in a way that the company can completely control.
