We talk a lot about the Wii on this blog, for the obvious reasons. Ah, but the DS... even if Nintendo didn't have a second console, it might be dominating the market on the strength of that platform alone. If you doubt me, check out these graphs I'm borrowing from the mighty Shack Blog, which graph all of the NPD sales data for 2007. Created by the nifty Stephen "chazums" Charman, they tell the story of an industry ruled by two screens with an iron fist.
"Food for thought," Charman points out. "In December the DS sold almost as much as the PS3 has in the whole year."
Of course, the perspective chart shows just how far the DS would have to go to even equal the GBA in sales, let alone the ridiculous success of the PS2...
Shows just how premature all that talk about Wii 2 and DS 2 probably is, huh? It's pretty obvious the current Nintendo hardware is going to be with us for at least another few years.
