Wiiplayable.com: Flash Games You Play With Your Wii Remote

Jan. 17 11:37 PM by Alicia Ashby

The last time I sort-of-reviewed something that claimed to let your Wii do something cool through the Wii browser, it turned out to be a giant bag of crap. I am pleased to say that Wiiplayable.com is not a bag of crap at all! Actually, it's pretty fun, though it has the disadvantage of most Flash game sites-- sorting through the terrible ones to find the ones that are great.

Still, everything on Wiiplayable.com is meant to be playable with your Wii remote, and I've only found a few that aren't actually fun (or possible) to play this way. The ones that fail tend to be hasty ports of PC flash games that don't really account for the difference between the size of a mouse cursor and the size of the pointing hand you use to play with the Wii Remote.

Check behind the cut to see a list of my favorites thus far, after a whole three hours of play and experimentation. I may keep tabs on this site in the future to report when anything new and particularly good goes up.

  • Wii Duck Hunt is a great recreation of NES Duck Hunt that works really well with the Wii Remote. There's even a dog-shooting mode.
  • Alien Clones is one of many Asteroids-derived Flash games on the site, but this one I thought had enough control and gameplay differences to make it really memorable.
  • Reverse is a viciously hard yet addicting little game where you guide a cube through a maze and can't touch the walls. Oh, and your cursor movement's been reversed...
  • Cake Mania is a girly clickfest that I hesitate to call good... yet I can't stop playing it. Yes, this is the same as the PC/DS/monster casual game hit.
