After months of worry about the game being lost in development hell, Level-5's Dragon Quest IX is now confirmed for Japanese release in March of 2009. That means it's safe to say the game is complete and, probably, in the pre-production phases of its inevitable localization.
Dragon Quest IX is debuting on the Nintendo DS, and is set to be both the first portable-only and multiplayer-focused entry in the Dragon Quest series. More information about the title is very likely to surface at the upcoming Tokyo Game Show, where a 90-minute Dragon Quest presentation is scheduled.

I think you mean "post production." If it was still in pre-production, we would be really fucked.
No, I mean pre-production of the localization. Not, y'know, the game. Localization work for NA releases usually goes on for at least a few months after a game has streeted in Japan, so far as I know.
