Sony Promotes LittleBIGPlanet with... Mario?

This is adorable and confusing! One of the latest promotional videos for Sony's upcoming PS3 create-a-platformer, LittleBIGPlanet, showcases... uh, a roughly remade version of World 1-1 from Super Mario Bros. Yet, yes, it's very cute and delightful, but this is about as weird as that Malaysian PS3 launch where they played the Zelda theme. Anyway, LittleBIGPlanet streets on October 21 and appears to be one of the few good reasons left to own a PS3. I may be giving it a try if I can find time in the Great Q4 Game Blizzard of '08.

Is it just me, or does this make the original Mario seem like a much better game? This presentation makes the game appear to be very frusterating and unrewarding.

 

Yeah, I'm with tylo on this. It looks jerky, slow-paced, and not much fun. If anything it seems to indicate how many things you *can't* create in their game.

(Now to be fair, it's possible that the game can do all these things or will be able to some day, or maybe the person playing the demo just isn't very good at it. But is that really what you want to show in your demo?)
